Composing in Cantonese

I can’t speak cantonese, but I can sing it. Why? Because my students are teaching me, of course!

One of the classes Tom and I are working in this year is a cantonese immersion class, and aside from the obvious moments of non-understanding, things become particularly interesting when our job is leading a rehearsal of sung text we can’t properly pronounce. Luckily, we are surrounded by students who can, and after amusing them with our butchering of the language, they take over to show us how it’s done.

Check out this 90-second audio summary of their work this morning.
