An improvised composition

In recent posts, I’ve been sharing recordings that hopefully bring the process of composing songs in a class to light, and showcase strategies and techniques for eliciting melodies from students. Some days it can feel like pulling teeth. On rare occasions however, you encounter a student who will look at a text, and sing you the song in one go, from start to finish, without hesitation. Here is one such second grader, doing just that. The melody is entirely off the top of her head.
